Recent Past : Age of Chaos

Basically, this is the time period after the events of Skyward Sword before Ocarina of Time, known officially as the "era of chaos". Hyrule is a fledgling nation with a royal family eager to establish themselves. However, this is also before the Temple of Hylia is sealed from dark forces, leaving the Hylians alone in defending the temple from outside forces who seek to obtain the Golden Power. During this time of strife, a traveling warrior named Raven returns from visiting neighboring territories and seeks to report on threats and allies to the royal family, who is suffering through problems of their own.
The good king and queen (she's named Alenna) have two daughters: one an uneasy blonde named Rayna, the crown princess; and another a dark-haired sadist named Tessa, the grand duchess. Guess who really wants the throne?
There's the list of good characters and other allies in this era:
  • Raven, the travelling warrior, a Hylian and this era's hero. Since this era is all about learning magic, he's armed with magical weapons, such as two differently-blessed blades. And yes, this character is meant to look like another well-known character in the Zeldaverse. Guess who one of the enemies is?
  • Rayna, crown princess, a Hylian. A secret kept by those close to the Royal Family is that Rayna is suffering from a magical curse: she will often, at seemingly random times, turn into a wolf-like beast. This distresses the Royal Family, because she'd be a danger to herself and to the kingdom if she is crowned while still under this curse's effect. While there are some who are pleased with this (Tessa), Raven and the heroes offer to seek out a cure for the princess's curse. At one point, she offers to join the troupe, since her bestial form manages to destroy some enemies in a dire circumstance, as well as display other interesting qualities.
  • Takal and Leeza, twin Deku woodsmiths-in-training. While they officially are learning how to craft using natural materials ("woodsmith"), they are by nature troublemakers and pranksters. Takal, the male, and Leeza, the female, end up getting separated multiple times in this era, but their sibling bond manages to get the two together eventually. Have natural deference to sunlight, flames, water, and snow, but unencumbered by electricity.
  • Rauru, a Hylian. He's Raven's son, and he's learned how to use magic since a very young age. Most of his magic seems to be based on making objects glow brightly, but he insists on getting better. He was the one to originally suggest casting a seal on Hylia's Temple to keep evil out, so the Royal Family, at Raven's and Rayna's request, commission to have Hylia's Temple fortified and reconstructed to become the Temple of Time. When the enemy manages to enter the Temple just before the seal is cast, Rauru seals himself into the Sacred Realm to guard the Triforce from that side... We know that he becomes the Sage of Light, and that he stays there for ages until the events of Ocarina of Time. It'd be a sad moment in the story, for sure, because the players, as Raven, will see Rauru seal himself into that timeless realm.
  • Chatari, a Mountain Minish. He's Raven's closest pal, and often rides on Raven's shoulder, whispering information about foes into Raven's ear. Children such as Rauru and Ropely can see him, because... Minish. He can explore small spaces for the party, and can be full of surprises. Basically, he's the Navi for Raven.
  • Ropely, a Hylian. Some of you can recognize this girl from the Oracle of Ages manga, because in this story the Past of Labrynna takes place at the same time as the Era of Chaos. Ropely is a great friend of Raven and Rauru, but she seeks a knight in shining armor to be her match someday. She can learn a little bit of magic, but I will be mum as to any further details regarding that.
  • Alenna, Queen of Hyrule. She is suspicious of her daughter Tessa's desires, besides the obvious want to be crowned queen. She is eager to supply Raven with information, but cannot join the party because of royal duties. Ah yes, Rayna is younger than Raven by a lot, while Alenna is closer to Raven's age.
  • Puini, Raven's horse. What's more to say, besides he was from the Oracle of Ages manga as well.
  • Storme, music-loving youngling and member of the nomadic Wind Tribe. They still reside in the Fortress of Winds at this point, and have insight about of of the villains in this era. He wields an item that's a treasure among his tribe, known as the Wind Waker. I believe that officially, the Wind Waker was made before the events of Ocarina of Time, because we have no idea how long after the end of the adult era of OoT that the Great Flood happened... And I'd go so far as to say it's an ancient tool. So why not have it be part of the Wind Tribe's treasures? Anyway, Storme is a rowdy kid with a knack for getting in trouble. So the tribal elder sends him on a self-discovery journey, during which he runs into the heroes.
  • Dorigon, a Goron. I know he looks like Darmani and Darunia mixed together, but this guy has nothing but a big brother attitude towards the heroes. He wields a Megaton Hammer, which he can lift with one hand no problem. Yes, the same Megaton Hammer from Ocarina of Time. Which means the entire backstory related to that also plays here.
  • Tokaro, a Tokay from Labrynna, father to Katoka. He calls himself a "conveyor and purveyor of goods", which just means he steals from highway travelers and sells their goods for profit. He teams up with his daughter for scams sometimes. He'd be a fun guy to have on your team.
  • Azora, a... well, a Sea Zora. The fins you see are not fins on her arms, but part of her really large tail. Yeah, she's a good swimmer. She becomes involved with the team when she witnesses a dark event, tries to run away, and ends up accidentally getting whisked away to a really cold part of Hyrule. The party finds her, thaws her, and realizes she can now control ice, which would be useful for the next area of the game and for solving the mystery she beheld. Except for that large tail, she's modeled after Ruto from Ocarina of Time.

Symbol for this age: Taken from the symbol on the Spirit Medallion of Ocarina of Time, signifying the spiritual awakening and magical affinity of this age.
